If you’ve ever played volleyball, you have inevitably experienced this scenario. During a serve, as the other team strategically launched the ball over the net, several girls on your team would yell, “I got it!”
As a result, everyone stood back and NO one ‘got it’! The ball landed on the ground with a thud. Another missed point. Another missed opportunity. The other team scored again.
Why? Why did not one of the girls who claimed they ‘got it’ move towards the ball, even in an attempt to hopefully return the serve?
Well, the sensitive girl was afraid that she would bump into another girl and someone would get hurt. The new girl thought her friend next to her was more skillful in returning the ball. Another, lacking confidence, wasn’t sure she could send it back successfully. She didn’t want to be embarrassed. And the capable girl was distracted, so she wasn’t positioned properly to reach it.
As Christians, we are a part of God’s plan. We are to carry out His purpose daily! We, like Elijah in the widow’s home, are being placed strategically to be used in other people’s lives.
In life, why do you just stand back? Could it be you are nurturing past offenses – leaving no energy for spiritual things? Perhaps you feel inadequate? Or less capable, less spiritual than someone else? Could it be that you don’t think you are good enough for God to actually use YOU? Maybe you feel dried up and unusable – like a dried-up marker when the cap has been left off too long?
Well, God says, “‘JUST GET IT’ When you see the opportunity, it’s because I put it in front of you! I have set you up for the volley! Just keep your eyes on me! Take your eyes off your past! Take your eyes off your hurts! Take your eyes off your feelings of inadequacy! I will speak through you! I will work through you! Plant your feet firmly and move into action. Relax. Just be you and let me be me.”
” I AM the great I AM. I AM your sufficiency! And, “I’ve GOT IT!”
